Macaronesia, the islands of the fortunate, is a magnificent area comprising four volcanic archipelagos in the Atlantic Ocean: Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, and Cape Verde. Azores and Madeira are autonomous regions of Portugal, the Canary Islands are part of Spain, and Cape Verde has been an independent country since 1975. These archipelagos are lush with endemic flora and fauna and are sought by biologist researchers from all around the globe. European tourists visit these islands for their amazing ocean and mountain landscapes and slow island life. This trip starts in Funchal, Madeira, and ends in Arrecife, Lanzarote.
Madeira: 8 Days
This island is an amazing destination for relaxing activities, and cultural experiences. In eight days we will visit the whole island with an option to jump off to a neighboring island, Porto Santo.
DAY ONE: Machico, Canical, Porto da Cruz, Santana, Sao Vicente
DAY TWO: Porto Moniz, Saltwater Lava Pools, Rabacal — Pico Fernandes, Ribeira Brava, Camara de Lobos fishing town, Cabo Girao
DAY THREE: Corral das Freiras, Funchal
DAY FOUR: 7km Hike, Pico do Areiro to Miradouro do Juncal
DAYS FIVE–SEVEN: Porto Santo
DAY EIGHT: Funchal, Monte
Macaronesia Wildlife Adventure: 7 Days
This is a one week sailing trip with visits to several islands such as Salvajes, La Alegranza, La Graciosa, and Lanzarote. On this voyage we will take advantage of the area’s wildlife richness of crustaceans and birds, enjoy celestial navigation under starry skies, and make new friends.
DAY ONE: Board in Funchal and tour the Desertas Islands on semi-rigid speedboats
DAYS TWO–SIX: Sail the Macaronesia with stops at remote islands
DAY SEVEN: Arrive in Arrecife, Lanzarote
Lanzarote: 4 Days
Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands with amazing varied geography.
DAY ONE: Timanfaya National Park, El Diablo Restaurant, Mirador del Rio, Playa de Famara sunset
DAY TWO: Cactus Garden, Jameos del Agua, Los Jameos Restaurant, Cueva de los Verdes, Caleton Blanco, Balague Restaurant
DAY THREE: Charco de Clicos, Los Hervideros, Janubio salt flats, Casa Torano lunch, Papagayo beaches, Lilium Restaurant
DAY FOUR: Museo del Atlantico, La Geria Vineyards, Casa-Museo del Campesino lunch, Casa-Museo del Campesino, Teguise, Barcelo Teguise Beach
